Saqqez (Persian: سقز); (.mw-parser-output .IPA-label-small{font-size:85%}.mw-parser-output .references .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .infobox .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .navbox .IPA-label-small{font-size:100%}English: /sæɡɛz/ sa-ghez; Persian pronunciation: [sæɣˈɣez])[a] is a city in the Central District of Saqqez County, Kurdistan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] At the 2006 National Census, its population was 131,349 in 31,336 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 139,738 people in 37,262 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 165,258 people in 48,488 households.[2] . Most of the people in this city are Kurdish who speak the Kurdish language.[7]
