Quchan (Persian: قوچان; .mw-parser-output .IPA-label-small{font-size:85%}.mw-parser-output .references .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .infobox .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .navbox .IPA-label-small{font-size:100%}pronounced [quˈtʃɑːn, ɢoˈtʃɒːn])[a] is a city in the Central District of Quchan County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] It is approximately 97 km south of the border city of Ashgabat, capital city of neighboring Turkmenistan. The city of Quchan has been considered in the past due to its historical location, including having 140 historical monuments and having 32 monuments registered in the list of national monuments and 20 attractive tourist areas. Nader Shah was assassinated on 20 June 1747, at Quchan in Khorasan.
