Quchan (Persian: قوچان; .mw-parser-output .IPA-label-small{font-size:85%}.mw-parser-output .references .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .infobox .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .navbox .IPA-label-small{font-size:100%}pronounced [quˈtʃɑːn, ɢoˈtʃɒːn])[a] is a city in the Central District of Quchan County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] It is approximately 97 km south of the border city of Ashgabat, capital city of neighboring Turkmenistan. At the 2006 census, its population was 96,953 in 25,066 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 103,760 people in 29,438 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 101,604 people in 30,099 households.[2]
