Gorgan

Gorgan (Persian: گرگان; [ɡoɾˈɡɒːn] ⓘ)[a] is a city in the Central District of Gorgan County, Golestan province, Iran, serving as capital of the province, the county,[6] and the district.[7] It lies approximately 400 km (250 mi) to the northeast of the national capital Tehran, and some 30 km (19 mi) away from the Caspian Sea. At the 2006 National Census, its population was 269,226 in 73,702 households.[8] The following census in 2011 counted 329,536 people in 98,019 households.[9] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 350,676 people in 111,099 households.[4]
