It is administered by the Municipal Council of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill and has a population of 147,066[2] inhabitants, making it the third largest city on the island. Municipal elections are held every 6 years, the mandate of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor is two years, then another one is chosen by the members of the board through a system of voting. For the Municipal elections held in November 2012, the town of Beau-Bassin Rose-Hill was divided into 6 wards compare to 4 previously.[3]
