Nice, France

Nice is a city located in the southeast part of France on the Mediterranean Sea. It is the fifth most populous city in France and the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department. It is known for its mild climate, beautiful beaches, picturesque old town, and vibrant culture. The city also features a wide variety of attractions such as museums, galleries, parks, gardens, and monuments. There are also many excellent restaurants and cafes to enjoy. With all these elements in place, it's no wonder that Nice is one of France's most popular tourist destinations.

I had really high hopes for Chez Davia, as it’s featured in the Michelin Guide and reviews rave about the rustic dishes. I did not make a reservation but arrived promptly at 7:30 PM. Ambiance: The tables are quite close, especially if you’re seated outside. This place is pretty no-frills and the decor is a bit dated, but it has a certain French charm to it. Service: Service was fair. I did have to ask for a glass and utensils, but they were friendly. They do get quite busy as they are quite popular, so I get it. Food: Terribly bland unfortunately. I did the 3-course prix fixe meal and left quite hungry if I’m being honest. I would recommend ordering 1-2 more dishes to share for 2+ people. There was simply nothing remarkable about anything I ate. I may not have enjoyed my experience, but I would not persuade you to not visit. They are decorated with awards for a reason. If anything, I would not suggested the fixed meal and chose options off their menu.

"A Fusion of Flavors: An Authentic Charcoal Grill Experience with a Thai Twist" To be seated: 0min with reservation (dinner) To be served: 15min (maybe peak hour) Upon our arrival, the place was already buzzing with diners, creating a lively atmosphere. The highlight of our dining experience was undoubtedly the meats, grilled to perfection over real charcoal in an open oven. This method, as opposed to gas grilling, resulted in a remarkable crisp texture, imparting a distinctive and robust flavor to all the grilled items. Adding to the thrill of the evening was our seating placement, which allowed us to watch the chef in action, performing his grilling artistry right in front of us. There was an unexpected and delightful fusion aspect to the menu. It was particularly evident in their salad dressings, which were ingeniously infused with Asian elements like ginger and sesame, giving a distinct nod to Thai cuisine. The homemade sausage was a standout dish, packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. Additionally, the chicken breast was enticingly seasoned with curry powder, while the sirloin was tender and succulent. I appreciated the chef's post-grilling technique where the meat was tossed in a mix of herbs, pepper, and coarse sea salt, enhancing its natural flavors and adding a perfect finish. The grilled octopus offered an exciting contrast of textures – crunchy on the outside, yet tender and soft within. The beef hamburger was another winner. It was served on a rich, brioche-like bun that complemented the meat perfectly. The house's original sauce added a unique twist, tying the whole dish together beautifully. Overall, this dining experience was a gastronomic delight, a fusion of the best of two worlds - classic charcoal-grilled dishes with a tasteful dash of Thai-infused touches.

So glad we popped over here. We were walking by and saw this little restaurant, the food seemed good and we asked for a table. The owner is a lovely guy and also the lady that works in the kitchen was extremely friendly and of course the food is out of this world. Delicious and not expensive at all which surprised us. They sell olive oils that was incredible. Really recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Our group had an amazing experience tonight! The scallops were divine and the risotto was among the best I’ve ever had! Despite being server, bartender, and food runner all in one Willie was very attentive and so friendly (definitely one of the best server’s we’ve had so far in France)! I wish we had more time in Nice so we could come back here again!

The service was so horrible and the food was actually bad. It was our last night in France and this place ruined the entire experience. We got there at 8, they took our order at 8:05, it took until 8:50 to get our appetizers. My dish came out and it was fish+raspberries. 3 people tasted it and thought it was disgusting. My main was a fish (pretty good), which came out 15 mins later than my husband’s main dish (lobster pasta that was over cooked). So we basically ate separately. At this point around 9:15 we were really fed up so we asked to speak with the main waiter, and asked for the dessert and check. This didn’t happen, so we had to ask multiple times again. At 10, my dessert came out. It looked nice but was meh, so I couldn’t even finish it. Waited another 15 mins for the check to come, after asking multiple times again. The restaurant wasn’t even busy so I’m just confused what happened the entire time. I think after the initial complaint about how long we had to wait for the food, the service just got even worse (it was almost comical). For a restaurant inside a 5 star hotel, this was just not okay. What a waste of 340 euros.

I have to say, this is hands down the best place we ate at during our visit to Nice. A friend recommended it to us, and now I owe them a big thank you! This beautiful restaurant exceeded our expectations with its exceptional food. The fillet beef we ordered was an absolute masterpiece. Cooked to perfection, it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Each bite was a true delight for our taste buds. We couldn't have asked for a better culinary experience. We also want to express our gratitude to the staff for their kind and welcoming hospitality. They made us feel right at home, and their attentive service added an extra touch of warmth to our meal. Their genuine care for our satisfaction made the overall experience even more enjoyable. If you're in Nice, I highly recommend visiting. The combination of exquisite food, beautiful ambiance, and friendly staff creates an unforgettable dining experience. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Thank you to the staff for making our visit truly memorable!

I had dinner there 1 day ago and was shocked to find out that they do not have a Michelin star it was back on 2020 they received it. NOT 2023! Also the pictures of their place is not the same location and the food is average with a heavy price. Better places to go ( like JAN) that are Michelin star certified, this place is not worth the money. Do not recommend they don’t even have the proper bar and wine list.

Great Michelin-like experience (they don't have star yet). They stopped serving normal menu from the beginning of 2023. They offer only a tasting menu now. You can get menu with 5 or 7 different dishes. Each dish is very unique and has an unexpected combination of tastes. Pretty much what you got in Michelin restaurants. The waiter explains to you what's there. As far as we understood they update menu each month. Very nice experience and unique taste of each dish makes it a great option for a dinner. The only thing is that they are pretty expensive:)

This was by far our favorite restaurant in nice. I chose it based on a Google search for best restaurants as well as the pictures menu and reviews. Influence is tucked away from all.the tourist trappings and is a beautifully appointed little foodie oasis. We settled in w the best st Germain and aperol spritzes after we were warmly greeted by our host. We chose the 5 course menu which included an amouse bouche of guacamole topped with a spiced crab Mico green and lemon pearls. Then a courgette beignet w a yogurt type sauce w micro beets and marinated courgettes w a bowl of cucumber gazpacho which was incredible. Main was a seabream w a pomegranate citrus sauce, polenta and a puree of aubergine. All the flavors here married together to create the lightest and most delicious main dish. The cheese course was one of my favorites and thay says alot, as the this is the land of cheese. The dessert was a poached peach with a lemon verbena sorbet and a puff pastry w a sweetened ricotta. The entire meal, was a whirl of sweet, and savory, with a touch of citrus, which was designed like a food masterpiece to create a tasting menu that was so amazing we even went back to for our final night. We didnt want to be disappointed with our last dining experience in nice so we booked influence again for our last dinner. Please try this restaurant, you will be welcomed so graciously by your host and treated to a meal that is artfully and thoughtfully prepared for you by the chef who understands how to marry all the flavors of the region expertly. Bon Appétit

One of the most thoughtful, original, and interesting meals I’ve ever had. The inspired menu is derived from multiple South Africa dishes and flavors. Some are deconstructed and some preserved in their original format. The palette is quite different from traditional French cuisine, but the chef worked some real magic to blend the two. Service was pleasant, polite, and refined. The non-alcoholic pairing is quite interesting and a nice departure from the wine pairing offered in this type of setting. The cheese table is something I’ve never experienced anywhere else. Highly recommended experience.

It is a small but very unique museum (on different aspects). The location (attached to Parc Phoenix), the building itself (surrounded by water & incorporated there nicely) and the history it tells. Just having in mind how big Asia is and what long history it went through - not too many items are there. The exposition is well presented. But number of items could be much bigger having in mind the rich history of that region. Anyway, it was free entrance (July 2023), so no regrets.

The garden contains a part where the water vapor comes out of the tiles for some cooling on the feet and a fun place for the kids. The garden also has a public toilet which is also very convenient.

If you resonate with that particular artistic sensibility, you'll thoroughly enjoy the experience. However, if the style doesn't align with your preferences, you may feel out of place and uncomfortable. It's a venue that caters to a niche audience, making it either a delightful haven or a slightly unsettling environment depending on personal artistic inclination.
