Firstly, we are grateful our table of 12 could be seated at 7pm on Friday night and overall our experience was a positive one. The starters of grilled meat like chicken satay and teriyaki pork were tender and flavourful and the som tam and ribs get an honourable mention however, the Tom yum soup, larb and mains were really quite salty. The service was friendly but inefficient, our waiter took all starter plates and cutlery away but we had to wait for more cutlery to be washed as they'd run out so our salty mains got cold. Portion sizes were small and expensive - it feels like tapas so charge tapas prices not full main prices. We had to go and buy snacks after as we weren't satisfied which is a real shame. Feels like food and service need a bit of tweaking to make this a place you want to return to but as a one off, it was OK.

We visited the Beach Club Bar and Restaurant for lunch on a Monday during our recent visit to Portsmouth. It was a great spot to stop for a feed and a couple of drinks. We sat outside, on the glass-walled balcony overlooking the bay towards the Isle of Wight. We were warned against sea spray but didn't experience any as it was quite a calm day. The service was quite good, with plenty of staff on for the number of customers. We really enjoyed our meals. They were quite generous in size and well-prepared. Drinks were delivered quickly. Overall a good spot for lunch, in a good location for a day along the coast.

One of the best restaurant in Portsmouth. This is one of my home to home place. The kitchen has been renovated recently. The new dishes were undoubtedly successful. I opted for the chefs recommended -the duck. The presentation was a work of art with the dark cooker the to profession juicy inside and crisp outsiide. The mango reduction gave the dish an wonderful exotic twist. The bust of sweetness that complemented the rich flavour of the meat beautifully. The dish was accompaniment by some roasted sweet potato and some seasonal salad. It gave a satisfying balance and fulfillment. Definitely will go back and have more!

We had a pleasant experience at this busy burger joint during a Bank Holiday. Maria L provided efficient and friendly service, and the atmosphere was lively with a mix of families, couples, and friends. The All Right All Right All Right Burger was a spicy and cheesy delight worth ordering again, and the Chilli Cheese Fries were really good. The Peanut Butter & Jelly Milkshake had a nice subtle hint of jelly (jam) and was decent. The Truffle Mac was outstanding and one of the best we've tried. However, the Triple B Burger's blue cheese was too strong for our liking compared to GBK's more balanced flavour. The Tater Tots (hash browns, reshaped) and Dirty Fries didn't wow us, but the Classic Cheese Burger with BBQ sauce was nice. Parking in the area is limited, so plan accordingly. We had an overall positive experience at this burger joint, with a mix of hits and misses. One thing worth noting is that the meal deals offer the best value for money. The portion sizes were excellent, ensuring we left satisfied. Our total bill, including a tip, came to just over £90.

Initially worried as I turned up to a full bar with a sign 'Baby Shower'. I hadn't realised that they do a bottomless brunch on a Sunday, so it's possible it overran. I was directed to the room at the back where all of the other lunch customers were awaiting their menu/meals. Lovely chairs and nicely dressed tables - a boutique hotel feel. 90s pop music playing, which I wasn't expecting, but being a 90s baby this was fine (perhaps avoid if you are hungover or like a quieter space). Staff friendly and the lady on her first trial shift so efficient and confident I thought that she had been there a long time. Roast beautiful and the Yorkshire pudding perfect! You pay for what you get. Would be nice to visit again with family, but may be better during the week for them when it's a little quieter. My only criticism would be that the brunch party should have moved on before the lunch customers moved in as it felt a bit chaotic and affected service (to begin with). Looking at brunch times it is 11am to 12:30pm so a little confused why still at 2:30pm the bar was full.

Best restaurant to go out and eat when visiting Portsmouth. Lovely background music which creates a very nice atmosphere at the restaurant. The staff is always nice and always make sure that everything is alright with your meal. The food is simply amazing! Nothing beats some nice Portuguese food, and they make some good Portuguese dishes for sure. Tapas are also a great option with a big variety. The ingredients all seem of very good quality and the presentation of the plates is always on point. 100% will comeback and recommend to everyone I know!

Lovely Latin American food - lots of coconut, lime, fish and veggie options. All cocktails are 2 for 1, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The citrus cooler is a good mocktail choice. It can get busy at weekends so booking may be a good option but we didn't have to wait for a table for a very late Sunday lunch on Father's Day. The portions are very generous so a few tapas may be sufficient unless you are very hungry. Of course it is also a good place for a few drinks in a vibrant atmosphere.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Caffè Rouge in Portsmouth Harbour, and let me just say, the food was absolutely incredible! From the great starter of king prawns to the juicy and flavorful burger with camembert and bacon, every bite was pure bliss. But it wasn't just the food that impressed me. The atmosphere was lovely, creating the perfect setting for a delightful evening out. The restaurant was cozy and welcoming, with attentive staff that added to the already charming ambiance. In addition, the service was incredibly fast and efficient, which made for a stress-free dining experience. I was particularly impressed with the waitstaff, who were attentive, polite and friendly. They really made us feel welcomed and looked after from start to finish. Overall, I would highly recommend Caffè Rouge in Portsmouth Harbour to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a warm and inviting setting. With its exquisite food, good ambiance, and attentive service, it's definitely worth a visit!

It was a good meal and the meat was beautifully cooked we had a mixed grill meal and a steak with lamb chop meal and the meat just seemed to be missing a little chargrilled flavour which is unusual for this place. Chicken was a bit dry but the chips and peppercorn sauce were great. The staff were super friendly and great with my 18 month old. A decent turn around for us of about an hour, granted our starter was nachos and didn't need long to prepare.

We had dinner at Brasserie Blanc restaurant at Portsmouth…south of London . So impressed on their welcoming as that night the restaurant seemed to be full. The hostess tried to find out the table for us …always keeping informed us during that time. As this was first time for us to visit this town . The waiter nicely did the menu suggestion which suited to our expectations. Although there were many customers, our dishes were served on time with nice decoration. Wine was good as well. The waiter back to check our satisfaction after serving us , also did small talk about this town . All waiters looked friendly and smiling during the busy time. They did not hesitate to service us once they noticed we look at them for other service. The restaurant is located at the shopping center area of this town where is convenient for the travelers. Thank you for their nice hospitality.

We visited Fort Nelson on a Monday, so unfortunately it was closed. However we had a good walk around the outside. Was really interesting to get a proper look at a more modern fort, with the glacis/ramparts outside giving us some real insight into how they planned on defending the walls themselves against cannon fire. Walls are quite impressive, and the fort enjoys an incredible outlook over Portsmouth. It would have been great to have been there in its early years of operation and seen how it was utilised to ensure dominance over the port areas.

We purchased wrist bands on line before we went and they are great value for money. Just under £22 each for 5 hours of unlimited rides when individual tokens are £1 each and it's 5 tokens per ride! Really friendly staff and great fun for older kids especially, we had great fun. Buying drinks and snacks in there is a rip off though. £2 for a 50p bottle of water, £11 for 2 ice creams and candy floss is ridiculous prices! So rides and fair itself is great but food and drinks inside are ridiculously priced.

Little gem of a museum just back from the seafront walkway, perfect for people of all ages, and a great way to spend an hour. Entry is free (donations box by the door), and there is plenty to see. They have a lovely collection and it’s informative and well presented. Absolutely loved it, I highly recommend popping in! Getting there: there is parking on the seafront, plus a few small car parks dotted around but it can be very busy in peak summer. It’s a short walk back from the seafront, not far from the mini golf and model village. On site: first up is the butterfly house. Beautifully designed, wonderful variety of butterflies and a puparium to see their development. My favourite part of the museum. There’s a dedicated “bee” room, with an active, visible, hive in the exhibition room. Fantastic to watch the bees so close. There is an area dedicated to local birds and wildlife which was very interesting, and another room with a massive dinosaur sculpture (and fossil exhibits too!). I spent about an hour in there and that was enough time to view all the exhibits and spend plenty of time in the butterfly enclosure.

You can purchase various tickets for the attractions (see website) We did not go on board this visit and the Ship is still open to the public whilst undergoing restoration to the outer cladding. In fact we found the pop up tour of the restoration work "Victory Live" more interesting than previous visits as the visitor is able to get up close to the construction of the ship which is not quite how we had imagined. Used to be far better. We have missed out on visiting Action Stations for one reason or another other the last few years of having passes. Finally got the opportunity to April 2023 and unfortunately not a scratch on the Action Stations of old. No simulators, very little information provided, and essentially just a short indoor play area which is disguised as an assault course and a climbing wall. Though the kids enjoyed the assault course and I enjoyed racing said kids up the climbing wall, it feels like the charm has been lost.

If you’re a fan of naval war ships in history, you must see this. The dockyards in Portsmouth, UK, hold a storied maritime heritage and stand as a testament to the nation's naval prowess and maritime history. As one of the oldest and most significant naval bases in the world, the Portsmouth dockyards have played a vital role in shaping the British Navy and its global influence. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the dockyards have witnessed the construction, maintenance, and repair of countless naval vessels, including some of the most famous ships in British history, such as HMS Victory, Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar. Visitors to the dockyards can explore the expansive historic dockyard complex, which includes museums, historic ships, and interactive exhibitions. The Mary Rose Museum showcases the iconic Tudor warship, Mary Rose, which sank off the coast of Portsmouth in 1545 and was raised from the seabed in a remarkable feat of preservation.
