Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is located in the western part of the country, at the foot of the Vitosha mountain, in the Sofia Valley that is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The city has a population of 1.27 million people and is one of the oldest cities in Europe, having been founded in 7th century BC by Thracian tribes. Sofia is a vibrant city with plenty to see and do for tourists. Visitors can explore its rich cultural heritage with its many museums, galleries, monuments and historic

Felt that the food was a bit underwhelming for the price. The squid was good and nicely grilled but paired with both a lemon and lemon sauce which was a bit too much. The rolled fish was good, but the black rice and sauce were underseasoned and underwhelming. The outside patio however is nice and separated from the street, which is quiet anyways

One of a kind atmosphere with the live jazz music and the interior. Service was rather mediocre. There is a variety of food choices and most of them are unconventional and worth the try. The story behind the creation of the place is enthralling. Would only visit again for special occasions.

This was recommended to me from the free tour guide book. This did not disappoint at all if you want to experience authentic local Bulgarian food. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. It came right out of the grill! I sat in the outdoor area. Please be wee the outdoor area closes sooner than indoor. The only thing I would complain about is that there were many smokers outdoor. I asked for indoor but it turns out that smoking was allowed inside as well. I did take a quick tour of the indoor and it’s like a museum filled with traditional Bulgarian decor. Take a look at the photos and see what you think. Overall it was a wonderful evening and experience and I do recommend it!

Exceptional food and service, atmosphere really nice, overall a great restaurant. The prices are okay for this type of dining. The menu is small and very interesting, you can also get a Bootle or a glass of wine to pair with the food. They also have a lunch menu which is cheaper than dinner. Definitely recommend and will visit again.

Great food, large meals. We had the tasting menu which was delicious. While the food is great, the service can be improved for what you pay. The variety of non alcoholic drinks is very limited, while there are plenty of options for alcoholic drinks. The waiters are not well trained and could be a bit more friendly and attentive. When you pay a high price for Bulgarian standards you expect a better service.

Best service I’ve seen in Sofia. Food was very delicious and they did took notice of my gluten allergy, offered to modify some dishes if I want. We were offered complimentary bread and amuse bushes, which were also gluten free for me. And Chef Tokev served us our main meals, explaining everything that is in the plate.

Overall it is ok, nice experience to try one time. You have 22 small dishes with explanations and it is nice experience. But and this is my personal taste , i wished the girl who was serving food would smile and be friendly, she looked angry. Sometimes looked like chef hide in the kitchen instead of talking with customers. The food was ok, nothing wow.

Wonderful restaurant! We had the Black box menu, which is a three course menu that they create on the spot. The dishes were very interesting and delicious and the presentation was amazing. The service was also exceptional. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant and comfortable. We strongly recommend it and would definitely dine there again.

Nice and relaxed atmosphere (specially on the outdoor terrace). Quality of food is good however I was expecting a bit more from the flavor. Some of the dishes we ordered were a bit greasy. We had to wait for the dish of one of my friends for quite some time. Service was good but I don’t think I would repeat.

Really cute and cozy restaurant. The whole place is very nicely decorated and I loved the interior. Our waiter was really kind and polite. The food was also very delicious and well presented, it came a little bit slow, but i suppose that is because there were a lot of people. The prices are high but they serve you high quality food. Overall I don’t regret going here and it was a enjoyable experience. It is definitely deserves to be payed a visit at least once.

The food was delicious! And was serve very well. It was very taste and fresh! The interior is simple but very traditional. I gave 4 stars for service because we had to remind about our food, but overall it was an amazing experience and I really recommend this place if you want to try the traditional dishes, such as lamb with liver rice, kolenta, and so on. If I ever come back to Sofia I will definitely be back to this restaurant.

Truly a great gastronomic experience! A must do in Sofia, with a variety of dishes, flavor profiles, creativity, and homage to the traditional. Extremely accommodating, the management team worked hard to coordinate competing reservations for a large group with short notice. Our server was absolutely outstanding. Excellent kitchen. Would love to go back.

A very large traditional Bulgarian restaurant divided into several spaces. We went down to the lower part of the restaurant (underground), a large and beautifully decorated place with dozens of old wine bottles around. Good smell and pleasant music in the background. Nice wait staff but very busy with work. Delicious food, large and tasty portions. At 20:15 a performance of a Bulgarian band started in the place and it was happy and pleasant. The place is air-conditioned but not in the entire space and some of the seating tables are not air-conditioned enough.

Very nice place, nice food and nice service, the prices are a little bit high for the portion and the quality of some dishes, but still most of the time you’ll find tasty food. The atmosphere is good a mix between traditional and modern (more like classy) I went there twice for dinner and I got both very good dishes or very mediocre dishes, so choose wisely your food there, but overall I can easily recommend the place, plus it’s on vitosha blvd so right after you can take a nice walk there too!

One of the rare places in Sofia where the waiters are smiling and friendly. The food was extremely tasty, especially the meat dishes. Recommendation for chicken liver. The prices are more than affordable. The traditional dance was perfect. The only complaint is that after the traditional performance and the rest of the evening, their music was not played, but they sang other foreign music.

Great history, literally under your feet (the Metro station). Definitely cough up the couple of bucks to do the inside section and not just wander the free outside bits, some amazing artifacts inside. Crazy to think this was only discovered a decade ago. Minus one star because it's very hot inside, they could do with some more air con units!

This museum has many treasures. The items are obviously amazing, but I do wish that the museum were more organized especially in the ground floor. It wasn’t categorized in any sort of order or theme that I could make sense of. And I’m between the ancient items, it’s interspersed with contemporary art. While I absolutely support and love contemporary art, but it was out of place and seemly not related to the exhibition. The jewelry room upstairs however was a bit more organized and new. It was also the cooler room with AC. The rest of the museum was extremely hot. If you are in town, it’s still worth a quick visit. You can see everything in an hour.

The best, the biggest, the different, my favourite park in Sofia. Variety of trees, wild animals, birds. There is a “wild” part with soft paths perfect for runners and little kids, and the other bigger official part with different alleys, benches, places for snack, drinks, a restaurant. A great open bar with live concerts is hidden there too - “Maimunarnika” like “the monkey”.

Visiting St Sofia was underwhelming at first but it got much better when visiting the crypt. The access is not made for people having difficulties walking as there is a lot of stairs and the roof might be low on some areas. The video teaching us on the evolution of the church construction was quite interesting to put in perspective what you can see. I wished they had put that video closer to the entrance rather than quasi at the end of the path. Also there was no space for people to sit and watch the video so, really, it better be placed somewhere else. There are nice mosaics towards the end of the walk, after passing many tombs with flat and arched tops giving an indication of when they were built (together with find artefacts not displayed anymore). While in some churches in other countries the bones are visible, there everything is removed... Which rather remove curiosity and amazement from the tourist. Everything is apparently put in a museum... While it would have been so much nicer to keep findings in their original context. The place could also benefit from me pictures and descriptions of how it was looking at the time of the discovery, the intention for digging, the challenges encountered, etc. Build a story while walking through the history of the crypt.

One of the coolest places I have seen! First of all the building itself is architecturally stunning, makes you feel small but it is fascinating in design on how it incorporates elements.of traditional architecture. The there is the historical artefacts that make things interesting. Bulgaria has a very long history and you get that sense in the objects that you find. The explanations could be improved, but if you like history you will enjoy this place. Also the garden in the back is worth having a short walk in.
