Food was tasty. Service very slow and inattentive. Both courses were served at the same time but no cutterly. After asking for it the 1st time I thought they would care for main dish. But no, again they brought the food without providing knife and fork. Extremely unprofessional.

The tasting menu is the best and well put together menu I have ever experienced. The alcohol pairings make cohesive sense with each individual dish. While I didn't necessarily like every dish, each dish was carefully prepared and had layers of flavor that i could appreciate. The dishes that i did like were very very good. The whole experience was over 3 hours and was a very enjoyable highlight to our trip to peru.

This place was incredible. The service was well timed, the wait staff was very hospitable, and the food was exceptional. I’d return here in a heartbeat. The owner was very personable and proud of his restaurant, as he should be. I will definitely be back and recommend all of my friends and coworkers to come here!

This place was amazing! The owner showed us around and it was like walking around in a museum. They have over 5,000 bottles that fill the walls and decor of the place. They have an incredible buffet from 1pm-5pm with over 90 plate varieties. Siciliano influence. It's worth a visit!

Matria, where have you been all my life? Or for the last 10 years since I have been visiting Lima ? Not the first chef serving seafood with nikkei influences, but certainly to me the most successful, encompassing and to my budget, affordable. Move over pretentious, overpriced Nobu. The menu on my first visit was SUMMER (the concept being a seasonal menus with corresponding available ingredients) which on March 19th was scalding, so I ordered a non alcoholic cocktail (Antídoto) as an antidote to the outdoor heat: root beer, mango and curcuma’s extract. It worked but sadly arrived after I had finished my appetizer (Scallops grilled on their shells with yuzu sauce- which one could order by the unit (S/.11 each) -how smart is that?-and pumpkin bread which had a nice yellow color but became too soft and doughy to support the olive butter. Scallops were superb, served with their coral intact as they should be, grilled just right to help them retain their juices and yield their ocean flavor. Encouraged by the starter I ordered the battered fried Pejerreyes (smaller smelts) for S/.36. Never a fan of fried fish, but devoted to pejerreyes since childhood, I had to have them. Superb presentation, light as puffed air, served with dabs of salsa, aioli and fresh lime. I promised I would eat just five pieces at the most but failed and inhaled about a dozen of them. Why stop there? After seeing their grilled octopus walked by on its way to another table I had no choice. Octopus is always a risky choice (see my review on Cosme) most of the time improperly cooked and tasteless. But having seen the way it looked as it was served to a nearby I knew the chef was a pro. Pulpo anticuchero- seaoned in their own aji amarillo paste and miso for good measure, it is then grilled and served over yuca with maiz morado, avocado sauce and two strips of grilled corn: genius! Greek octopus cooked in red wine always my favorite has been demoted by this irresistible beauty. S/.60! All currency in N/S at the exchange of 3.77 to a dollar. The following week after eating at Segundo Muelle and Tanta I realized Matria’s was in a league of its own, so rushed back to try more of their superb cuisine. This time the menu was AUTUMN so I lucked out. I also have to point out my server Luis whose friendly professionalism made me feel at home and better yet in good hands. I also became aware of the beauty of their dinnerware, which complements and enhances the food servings. Never had Peruvian sauvage raw oysters before, which were from Casma in Ancash. Oversized and plump, with plenty of refreshing brine I wish I had ordered half a dozen, but was saving room for their Estiradito palteado, raw fish in an avocado liquid sauce, with corn, aji slices and popped toasted quinua. I needed a spoon to lift the perfect sauce to the fish slices. What a winner of a combination. I did not miss the lime juice which is used liberally in traditional tiraditos- with its consequent stomach acidity. To finish I ordered another appetizer: yucas crocantes, stuffed with cheese and served with a tuna/rocoto sauce of a striking purple hue. It was to my taste not the right dip for the yucas, neither spicy nor sweet enough it did nothing to bring the flavor of the yucas. I would have added some honey and more aji to give it the bite it needed.

Had a wonderful starter and main course here. Was staying at the hotel and for the second day did not feel like going out, so checked if there was room for me, on my own, to have my diner at La Locanda. And this was not a problem at all. Great service and enjoyed some great seafood. Muchos gracias!!

What a phenomenal dining experience! We shared four dishes, including dessert. Everything was absolutely outstanding, in creativity, preparation, and quality. Our service was informed, kind, and attentive. We sat outside, which was pleasant, and the interior space also looked very comfortable. This was a stand-out meal in Lima!

Very good food, great vine recommendations. Price for a meal for two is about 50€ which is quite affordable.

A quiet place for having lunch. Healthy menu and relaxing music. Hard to believe it's inside the noisy downtown. Prices are around 20 soles and it includes a soup or entrée a main dish and a dessert. I repeat, it's healthy food and a quiet place. I almost forgot to add that it's attended by careful nuns. Recommended as an alternative to heavy food and bad attitude waiters.

Oh my God the best ceviche ever. We came here for Mother's day. They had a buffet 1 to 4pm with criolla music alive. Environment was amazing, good selection of wines and food. I ate the most representative food of my country. Also I come back for the tea hour during week days. Good variety and cordial staff. Just love it!

We had a great dining experience Maras Restaurant in the Westin Hotel. The service was very attentive and helpful. The food and drinks were spectacular. The atmosphere was also very good, perfect for a date night. I would highly recommend this place.

Delicious seafood dishes, i mean everyone was good. Make sure you ask about special of the day or the bar menu and there are some extra selections and delicious too. The cocktail menu looks great and I almost got one. I went with a bottle of Caelum white wine from Arg and it paired well with all the dishes.

I came for the lunch with my family and we received an exceptional service. Cristian and his female colleague Andrea, were very friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was enjoyable. The lunch menu we ordered was very delicious and reasonably priced. I started with the Causa con pollo which was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I opted for the Lomito Saltado and it did not disappoint. For a drink I've been offered Chicha Morada which was very tasty and refreshing. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for the traditional peruvian lunch. From the welcoming ambiance to the exceptional service and exquisite cuisine, everything about this restaurant was top-notch. I cannot wait to return and explore more of the menu offerings!

Top world restaurant. Innovative. And simply an unforgettable experience. It was absolutely incredible. From entering the restaurant to the very end of walking out was another universe. It was worth every penny. Wonderful and knowledgeable staff, making sure my partner and I were clarified with all the questions we had. Each course was presented with delicacy and passion. You could taste everything in detail without feeling overflowed with ingredients. It was complex yet simple and fresh. Understanding the different altitudes of Peru with their ingredients was outstanding. If you are in Peru, please go to Central. This is the place where you discover Peru to a whole new level. I’ll go back to Lima just for Central. I hope they get No. 1 in the Top 50 World Restaurants.

Truly a unique and dazzling experience. The flavor combinations, textures, and visuals are unlike anything I've ever experienced. The service was impeccable; the staff really knew how to take care of you. They also did an excellent job at explaining the courses and how to consume them. It's a hefty price tag, but in the context of being a lifetime experience it is 100% worth it.

The food was delicious and great portions. The service was very good ACCEPT that the starters we ordered were delivered with the meal and therefore we didn't finish the appetizers. But the view of the ruins is great and is still worth the meal experience.

Brought my sister and brother in law for dinner to this restaurant to celebrate his birthday and so glad we did. Food was delicious and also beautiful to look at! Most important is the great service we received from Jose and Lucho, super friendly, attentive and informative. We had a great time and will be coming back!

Great public place for fun...drinks and food everywhere....also u can see the Rimak River the whispering river....take a tour to know the history of the place...heck the whole of Lima..gems

This museum consists of the private collection of Mr. Amano who had the foresight of buying what was left behind in the raided Inca tombs, where looters were looking for precious metals. Nobody else wanted the textiles which were found in those tombs except the founder of this art institution that does not get the credit it deserves. Mr. Amano and his heirs, with their skeleton crew which was affected by Covid, have done their best to present the treasures they own to the best of their abilities. With museums around the world in budgetary crisis, forced to sell their most valuable possessions to keep operating, it is a miracle this place can still function. So to carp about prices being to high, or not offering in depth explanations and textile workshops is asinine. The Metropolitan Museum in New York, has comparable textiles (looted) that they displayed periodically with the support of wealthy patrons and deep resources to do so. Consider yourself lucky to be able to see a better collection than the Met. And splurge an extra S/. 50 N/S to get the curator to open all the drawers which has an incredible Chancay gauzes, pictures of which I will post. This is an invaluable experience for those who love textiles and the high technical achievement pre-Columbian Peru was able to produce with the most rudimentary means.

Ok so it's in midtown. That is it's biggest draw back. Why, because Lima traffic is terrible. However, the park is beautiful, clean, and we'll maintained. They have bathrooms and is very cheap to get in. Less than 2 US dollars. If you want to really see Peruvians enjoying a family day out and see some nice water fountains this place is amazing. Added bonus are the beautiful birds. There where red, yellow and blue birds. There are different humming birds and a band of parrots that all roam free and are using the park as a safe zone. Highly recommended. Specially in the late afternoon when they have a really beautiful light show. I couldn't add more pictures because they feature my family but definitely will take more next time I return.

Each of the parks along the Malecón de Miraflores has one or more unique characteristic features or attractions and Parque Letonia, also known as the Latvia Park, is no exception as it has a small outdoor fitness station and this sculpture by artist Aldo Chaparro which is know as "Totem". The sculpture, made in Mexico, is made of aluminum, silver-colored and measures more than 3 meters in height.

The archbishop’s palace is just right in the corner of the main plaza of Lima and next to the beautiful cathedral. The window design is definitely a highlight (which you can see similar design in several other places around the historical center of Lima). The Pisco Museum next to the archbishop’s palace is a good place to have a cup of pisco sour after the visit. Highly recommend to people visiting Lima. (Follow me on IG ➡️ miss_dawang)

This really is cat heaven and a must visit for everyone who loves cats. I had never imagined there could be a park in the center of a major metropolis filled with cats who know they own the ground they walk on. Dogs don't bother or bark at them, people walk around them when they lay in the middle of the walkway, and there is a long waiting list to adopt the few kittens that are born there. The park is a very busy place with vendors, shows, dancing, hustlers, music from the nearby cathedral, just a symphony of sound and action, but the cats are mellow and unaffected by all of it. I highly recommend visiting the park for the cats and the myriad other activities that take place throughout the week. You will not be disappointed.

This museum has a lot a amazing gold artifacts and a spectacular collection of weaponry. Wow!

This is an idyllic spot to enjoy a romantic little excursion with your loved one. An enchanting walk surrounded by breathtaking scenery sets the mood, and quaint cafes and charming little restaurants dot the area, ready to satisfy any hunger pangs. If you find yourself nearby, it's an absolute must-see.

If you only have time to visit a Museum in Lima this is the one. Recently remodeled the displays are well lit, concise and do more than justice to the stunning artifacts in this collection. The emphasis on the descriptive text being in as many languages as possible, is in direct detriment to the information one craves of the objects in display. We are in Peru, so the text should be in Spanish, and should be thorough and well thought out. It should also be at eye level, not below one’s knees as is the case on some pieces. The original Larco collection on the left as you come into the main courtyard, is overwhelming in scope, with floor to ceiling glass cases that have not been cleaned in ages, and with only the pieces at eye level comfortable to look at. The lighting is funereal in contrast to the rest of the museum. I imagine this is the result of being short in both storage and budget. It would be better to close this space altogether since it does nothing for the objects trapped inside or the visitor who cannot wait to get out. So just avoid it and enjoy the remodeled part of this gorgeous place, with a magnificent outdoor garden.

A pyramid in the City !!! Yep .. to be honest is quite an archeological site but is only a small piece of the unbelievable culture available in Peru. If you are in Lima and is close by to you I recommend it. But you will not stay more than 30 minutes because the site is relatively small.

It’s an absolutely nice place to walk around. There is a lot of mural paintings on the walls and under the bridge . . There’s always something interesting going around on the walkways under the bridge. Also, it’s a good view point to see the beach . . . There is also a lot of street shops, selling snacks and fresh, coconut water, etc. on the sides . There is also a lot of excellent restaurants in walkable distance us near this place .

Well kept park. Plenty space to walk and seat while enjoying the fountains. They have their own parking area as public transportation is easy to get. The areas are clean as wells as the bathrooms. Good for families, the kids will enjoyed too.

Worth visiting. Beautiful architecture. Seems that the cathedral is no more used for worship unless for special occasions, and turned into a fulltime museum. Has a couple of crypts to visit. Here lies the tomb of Francisco Pizarro.The historic center of Lima can be a bit overwhelming due to the numbers of attractions to visit, and Lima Cathedral together with the San Francisco church and Sto. Domingo church are the ones you should not be missed - if you are a catholic and into church architecture and stuffs. Lots of vultures flying around

Great to visit with a guide. The museum has over 45,000 pieces of art. In 1hr, we saw the highlights and had a nice tour with local guide Sandra. One member of our OAT tour group opted to stay and spend more time. I've included photos of beautiful restaurant/bar which is on museum grounds. The gardens surrounding this former home are spectacular and well maintained. LANTANA cascades over the walls. Worth a visit...it has English Descriptions too.

The monastery was beautiful, and the Cedarwood is amazing. Catacombs 30,000+…. The history was great. It is in the basement of Saint Francisco Monastery, loved our tour guide. I WOULD RECOMMEND

We were able to visit it a weekday without a reservation. Our time slot given for the toured entry was within half 20 min of our arrival so we were able grab a coffee nearby beforehand. Went with a the little ones who really enjoyed the mummy burial pots, llamas, and the view from the top.

This was definitely a highlight. The square has closed down the streets to walk through like a shopping centre. I would definitely recommend going at night time to see it lit up. It felt very safe as well as they have national and local police everywhere. There is also local guides that speak English to help you out if you need to get somewhere!
